Dada Films has acquired U.S. rights to P.J. Hogan’s comedy “Mental,” starring Toni Collette, and plans a theatrical and VOD release on March 29.

“Mental” held its North American debut earlier this month at the Palm Spring International Film Festival. It’s produced by Jerry Zucker, Janet Zucker, Todd Fellman and Jocelyn Moorhouse.

Collette stars along with Liev Schreiber, Anthony LaPaglia, Rebecca Gibney, Kerry Fox, Caroline Goodall, Deborah Mailman and Sam Clark. Project re-teamed Collette with Hogan for the first time since “Muriel’s Wedding” and held its world premiere last August at the Melbourne Film Festival.

Collette stars as an eccentric hitchhiker who becomes the nanny to the five daughters of a dysfunctional family and transforms their lives with her unconventional beliefs.

Dada Films, headed by Steven Raphael and MJ Peckos, recently worked on campaigns for “War Witch” and “Blancanieves.”
