The alliance is aimed at combining Cinedigm’s acquisition and digital distribution and marketing capabilities with Demarest’s financing, development, acquisition and production resources.
“Short Term 12” won the grand jury and audience award at South By Southwest and was the audience winner at the Los Angeles Film Festival. The drama, set in a foster home, will be released theatrically Aug. 23 with ancillaries following in early 2014.
Bob Fiorella negotiated the deal on behalf of Cinedigm and Sam Englebardt on behalf of Demarest.
Two-year-old Demarest has produced and financed Neil Jordan’s “Byzantium,” Max Nichols’ “Two Night Stand,” Robert Luketic’s “Paranoia,” Anton Corbijn’s “A Most Wanted Man” and Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete Kills.”
