Cannes: ARRI’s ‘Ploe’ Migrates to Buyers

Pic flies to CIS, Baltics, China, Poland, Israel, S. Korea, Middle East

ARRI Worldsales has sold animated feature “Ploe — You Never Fly Alone,”  produced by the creators of “Legends of Valhalla — Thor,” to several territories at Cannes.

Story centers on a young Golden Plover who has trouble learning to fly, so isn’t able to migrate with his family, and must survive alone.

Based on a first-look teaser, ARRI has presold “Ploe” to CIS and Baltics (Big Movie), China (H.G.C.), Poland (Kinoswiat), Israel (FilmHouse), South Korea (Smile Ent.) and Middle East (Shooting Stars).

“Ploe” is produced by Hilmar Sigurdsson and Haukur Sigurjonsson at Iceland’s Gunhil and Michael Coldewey at Germany’s Trixter. GunHil  produced “Legends of Valhalla — Thor.”

“Ploe” is set for delivery in the second half of 2015.

Also on ARRI’s slate are Joachim Masannek’s “V8 — Start Your Engines!,” which world preemed at the Cannes Market; German box office hit and Toronto Kids award winner “Vampire Sisters,” helmed by Wolfgang Groos; and Bernd Sahling’s “Upsidedown,” which was nommed for the European Film Academy Young Audience Award.
