Callum Keith Rennie has signed on for a role in Universal and Focus’ “Fifty Shades of Grey,” the highly anticipated adaptation of E.L. James’ bestseller of the same name.

Rennie will portray Ray, stepfather to female protagonist Anastasia Steele, played by Dakota Johnson. Rennie recently completed “The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet” opposite Helena Bonham Carter, which was acquired by the Weinstein Co. He also recently completed indie feature “Ride” opposite Helen Hunt.

There has been a slew of casting announcements in regards to the film in recent weeks. Eloise Mumford, Rita Ora, Luke Grimes, Jennifer Ehle and Marcia Gay Harden fill out other supporting roles. Jamie Dornan will play billionaire lead Christian Grey.

Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti are producing, with Sam Taylor-Johnson at the helm. Kelly Marcel penned the script. The film is currently lensing in Vancouver.
