Bradley Cooper In Talks to Voice Rocket Raccoon in Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

'Hangover' star to voice Rocket Raccoon in superhero feature

Bradley Cooper is in early discussions to voice the machine gun-wielding Rocket Raccoon in Disney and Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” sources confirm to Variety.

While no deal is in place, a formal offer has been made to Cooper and talks are said to be ongoing between Marvel and CAA.

Directed by James Gunn, the superhero tentpole co-stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Benicio Del Toro and will be released Aug. 1, 2014.

Vin Diesel is also rumored to join the cast as the voice of Rocket Raccoon’s close friend Groot, an extraterrestrial tree-like creature.

Marvel has long viewed “Guardians” as its own “Star Wars,” featuring a number of setpieces in outer space and alien creatures.

Rocket Raccoon, a key member of the “Guardians” fleet, appeared onscreen in Disney’s D23 Expo earlier this month in Marvel’s teaser and promises to be a more realistic looking version of the genetically modified character.

Kevin Feige, head of Marvel, is producing “Guardians of the Galaxy” alongside Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jeremy Latcham, Alan Fine and Stan Lee.

Cooper can next be seen in David O. Russell’s “American Hustle,” which opens Dec. 25.

News of his casting was first reported by Latino Review.

Take a look at the photo above. It’s the most poetic image to have emerged from Todd Phillips’ “Joker,” and the reason I say “poetic” isn’t just because the shot has that caught-in-action indelible vibe of a quintessential movie poster: graphic, hauntingly composed, a bit shocking (at least, the first time you see it). It’s [...]
