Bradley Cooper Confirmed for Marvel’s ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

Disney release set for Aug. 1, 2014

In his first voiceover role, Bradley Cooper has joined Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” as Rocket Racoon.

Marvel officially confirmed the casting Friday. Variety reported on Aug. 22 that Cooper was in early talks for the machine-gun wielding character as a key member of the “Guardians” fleet.

Rocket Racoon appeared onscreen in Disney’s D23 Expo earlier this month in Marvel’s teaser and promises to be a more realistic looking version of the genetically modified character.

“Guardians” is directed by James Gunn. The superhero tentpole, starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista, will be released by Disney on Aug. 1, 2014.

Cooper was last seen in the third and final “Hangover” film and will next be seen in “American Hustle” which will reunite him with “Silver Linings Playbook” director David O. Russell.

The Golden Globes Polish Up Their New Respectability (Column)

It’s always a fun ritual to peruse the nominations for the Golden Globes, because you’re probably going to see a handful of eyebrow-raisers and maybe a jaw-dropper, the sort of “Oh, did they actually do that?” choices that make the Golden Globes the Golden Globes. That’s the theory, at any rate. But it may be [...]

Most of Monday morning’s Globe nominations didn’t come as a big surprise. “Marriage Story,” “The Irishman,” “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and “Parasite” have been ruling awards season – their many nominations were expected.
