Ben Walker in Talks for ‘The Heart of the Sea’ with Chris Hemsworth

WB pic will be helmed by Ron Howard

Ben Walker is in early talks to co-star with Chris Hemsworth in the Warner Bros. pic “In the Heart of the Sea.”

Ron Howard will helm the pic. Deadline Hollywood broke the news.

Story is based on the 1820 event about a whaling ship that is preyed upon by a sperm whale, stranding its crew at sea for 90 days more than a thousand miles from home.

Brian Grazer and Joe Roth are producing along with Palak Patel and Paula Weinstein.

Warners has been working fast to get the film off the ground this September in order to meet Hemsworth’s busy schedule. Besides Walker, other actors that were considered include Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Huddleston and Henry Cavill.

The WME and Inspire Entertainment-repped Walker was last seen in Fox’s “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.”
