Dignity Film Finance is driving toward a feature film version of “The God of Driving,”  acquiring movie rights to the Amy Fine Collins novel.

Dignity will fully finance and “Gray Matters” director Sue Kramer will direct from her own adaptation of the novel. Jill Footlick (“Greetings from Tim Buckley”) will produce and Marina Grasic will exec produce.

The novel’s full title is “The God of Driving: How I Overcame Fear and Put Myself in the Driver’s Seat (with the Help of a Good and Mysterious Man).”

Dignity plans to start international sales at Berlin next February.  The project is set to start shooting in spring  next year.

The novel was published by Simon & Schuster in 2011. It follows Collins, a special correspondent for Vanity Fair and Manhattan socialite, as she decides to overcome her lifelong phobia of driving — eventually becoming captivated by her instructor and obsessed with the automotive world.

Dignity finances and produces eight to 10 films annually in the $5 million to $25 million range.
