A24 Dates Coppola’s ‘Bling Ring’ for June 14

Sofia Coppola's real-life theft drama stars Emma Watson

Newly-minted distributor A24 has set a June 14 limited domestic release for Sofia Coppola’s real-life theft drama “The Bling Ring,” starring Emma Watson.

Movie centers of group of teens from an affluent neighborhood that robbed the homes of celebrities in 2008 and 2009, stealing as much as $3 million worth of jewelry, cash and designer goods from Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, Audrina Patridge and Rachel Bilson.

It has also set an Aug. 2 opening for romancer “The Spectacular Now,” starring Miles Teller, Shailene Woodley, Brie Larson, Kyle Chandler, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Elizabeth Winstead.

A24 acquired both “Bling Ring” and “Spectacular Now” during Sundance.

The distrib launched last summer and announced its first acquistion by acquiring all U.S. rights to Roman Coppola’s “A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III,” which opened recently in limited released. A24 is also handling the domestic release of Harmony Korine’s “Spring Breakers” on March 15.
