Christopher Plummer has joined the cast of heist movie “The Forger” opposite John Travolta and “Mud” thesp Tye Sheridan with shooting set to start in October in Boston.

Sheridan won the new young actor award Saturday at the Venice Film Festival for David Gordon Green’s “Joe” opposite Nicolas Cage.

Producers on “The Forger” are Code Entertainment’s Al Corley, Bart Rosenblatt and Eugene Musso along with Rob Carliner. The Solution is handling international sales at Toronto, with WME Global and ICM Partners handling domestic sales.

Philip Martin (BBC’s “Wallander”) is directing from a script by “The Call” screenwriter Richard D’Ovidio.

Plummer will play the father of Travolta, who portrays a former child art prodigy and petty thief arranging to buy his way out of prison to spend time with his ailing son. He must team with his father to carry out one last big job for the syndicate which financed his early release.

Jonathan Dana and Randi Michel will executive produce alongside the Solution’s Myles Nestel and Lisa Wilson.
