Open Road Takes ‘Jobs’ Out of April 19 Release Date

Open Road Films has vacated the April 19 release date for “Jobs,” the indie Steve Jobs biopic starring Ashton Kutcher.

A spokeswoman for the distrib said a new slot has not been set yet.

Open Road announced the date during the Sundance Film Festival, noting that April is the 37th anniversary of the founding of the Apple Computer Co. by Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne.

The distrib unveiled the news two days before the preem of “Jobs” closed Sundance on Jan. 27.

Biopic is directed by Joshua Michael Stern. Matthew Whiteley’s script details the major moments and defining characters that influenced Jobs from 1971 through 2001.

The filmmakers shot footage in the Palo Alto, Calif., garage that was Apple’s birthplace.

“Jobs” also stars Dermot Mulroney, Josh Gad, Lukas Haas, J.K. Simmons and Matthew Modine.

Universal’s sci-fier “Oblivion” is the only wide release set for April 19.
