Paladin, 108 Media share ‘Blood’ ties

Markus Blunder-helmed thriller queued for 2013 U.S. release

108 Media and Paladin are drawing “Autumn Blood,” acquiring worldwide rights to Markus Blunder’s Austrian thriller with plans for a North American release this year.

Deal was announced by 108 Media CEO Abhi Rastogi and Paladin president Mark Urman in Berlin, where international sales are starting with the film’s first-ever screening on Wednesday.

The movie is the first feature film for Blunder, who has shot extensively in commercials and videos. He also produced and co-wrote the film’s screenplay with Stephen T. Barton.

“Blood” was exec produced and financed by Gunther Aloys, who developed the idea for the movie with Blunder. Filmed in English, “Blood” focuses on an orphaned brother and sister who live an idyllic secluded life in the Alps when they find themselves stalked and hunted for sport.

Australian thesp Sophie Lowe (“Two Mothers”) stars, with Peter Stormare, Gustaf Skarsgard and Samuel Vauramo playing the antagonists.

Deal was brokered by Andreas Peschel-Mehner at SKW Schwarz Munich.
