MPI Media Group has closed multiple territories for Richard Raaphorst’s “Frankenstein’s Army.”
The movie, which is having its market premiere at the European Film Market in Berlin, is a co-production of MPI/Dark Sky Films, Los Angeles-based XYZ Films and Pellicola of Amsterdam.
Entertainment One has taken “Army” for France, Scandinavia, Benelux, South Africa, the U.K. and Canada. Australian rights were sold to Madman; rights in Japan were sold to Transformer; and in Germany to Ascot Elite.
“Army” was filmed in Prague and premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival. It marks the feature debut of Dutch director Raaphorst.
Pic is set at the end of World War II with Russian soldiers in Germany discovering a secret Nazi lab where scientists have used Dr. Victor Frankenstein’s work to assemble an army of super-soldiers.
The eOne deal was negotiated by Poonam Sahota on behalf of eOne, Nicola Goelzhaeuser for MPI Media Group and Nate Bolotin of XYZ Films. The Oz deal was negotiated with Paul Wiegard.
