Serbian multihyphenate Emir Kusturica is attached to topline “La Foresta di Ghiaccio” (The Ice Forest) an Italian Alpine-set thriller that kicks off sales at EFM in Berlin.

Helmed by Italy’s Claudio Noce, whose “Good Morning Aman” screened at Venice and other fests in 2009, “Ice Forest” marks Kusturica’s first lead role in an Italian movie. Kusturica alternates directing duties with thesping turns in Gaul, most recently alongside Berenice Bejo in Nicolas Bary’s upcoming “Au Bonheur des ogres.”

“Forest” is being co-produced by Matteo Rovere’s Rome-based shingle Ascent Film and RAI Cinema, with backing from the Trentino film commission, the Italian region where the pic recently started shooting. Pic unfolds in a serene village where things get more eerie as a storm approaches. The budget is $2 million.

Producers at EFM will be unspooling a four-minute promo.

“Forest” also stars Russian actress Ksenia Rappoport (“The Double Hour”), Adriano Giannini (“Missing”) and Domenico Diele (“A.C.A.B: All Cops Are Bastards”).
