Cannes: Photogs Hungry for ‘Hunger Games’ Stars

Photo op comes hours before big 'Hunger Games' party

Just hours before Lionsgate’s much-anticipated “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” party at Baoli Beach, photographers crammed into the lobby of the Majestic Hotel on Saturday to snap pictures of the film’s stars.

Jennifer Lawrence and company were set to arrive at 2 P.M. at the hotel, where they’d pose on the ground floor for the world’s press. Photogs raised their cameras in excitement when an attractive blond walked in, only to lower their cameras upon realizing it was not, in fact, Lawrence.

Photo ops for big films usually take place at the Palais, but the rain has poured hard in Cannes for several days straight. That hasn’t deterred photographers, however, who staked out the Majestic’s lobby for the photo op before Lawrence’s arrival. Ironically, the Majestic doesn’t allow regular guests to snap pics with their iPhones.

Security on the “Catching Fire” party has been strict as well. Fest-goers have been buzzing about the fete, for which guests must pick up security-coded tickets beforehand. Organizers placed a giant statue of the “Hunger Games” logo outside of the Majestic days in advance, along with digital screens with nothing but bright red flames playing all throughout the night.
