One happy development in the Berlin kitchen scene: the lack of high-level Asian cuisine is now consigned to the dustbin of history.
For Korean, take a trip to out-of-the-way Berlin district Wedding, and fall in love with the Arirang. Ignore the exterior, if you can, ignore the interior, just enjoy great food at low prices, along with several bottles of Makkoli and/or Soju rice wine and Hite beer.
Further south, in Schoeneberg, Hodori is its upmarket twin.
Juki focuses on Korean barbecue, pork, chicken, beef, pork belly, prawns and squid, in tonier surroundings in cool Prenzlauerberg. Winter offerings include hotpot.
For genuine show-no-mercy Sechuan cuisine go to the Tian-Fu and for Taiwanese it’s Lon Men’s Noodle House, where noodles rule and the menu features the more exotic parts of pig.
Vietnamese cuisine is repped by Ha-An (An’s Place), where young An and his team have created the perfect Vietnamese-sushi fusion. An studied sushi at catering school and it shows.
