Aniston joins Bogdanovich’s ‘Funny That Way’

Wilson stars in helmer's first bigscreen pic since 2001

LONDON

Jennifer Aniston has signed on for Peter Bogdanovich’s comedy “She’s Funny That Way.”

Aniston joins an ensemble cast headed by her “Marley and Me” co-star Owen Wilson. Pic also features Jason Schwartzman, Eugene Levy, Kathryn Hahn, Brie Larson and Cybill Shepherd, whose bigscreen career was launched by Bogdanovich with his 1971 pic “The Last Picture Show.”

Previously titled “Squirrel to Nuts,” the comedy follows a married Broadway director (Wilson) who falls for a prostitute-turned-actress and tries to help her advance her career. Aniston will play a therapist whose mother is in rehab for alcoholism.

Pic will lense from June in New York City.

“She’s Funny That Way” is Bogdanovich’s first theatrical film as director since 2001’s “The Cat’s Meow.” Helmers Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach are set to produce the film, which is scripted by Bogdanovich and Louise Stratten.

Red Granite Intl. handles international sales.
