Zurich Invites ‘Gravity,’ ‘Knot,’ ‘Diana’ to Galas

Films offer potential for red-carpet star wattage

LONDON — The Zurich Film Festival has announced its first Gala Premieres, which will include “Gravity,” “Devil’s Knot” and “Diana.” The lineup offers the possibility of a few star appearances on the red carpet.

Alfonso Cuaron’s space mission drama “Gravity” stars George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, while Atom Egoyan’s real-life murder tale “Devil’s Knot” toplines Colin Firth and Reese Witherspoon, and Oliver Hirschbiegel’s “Diana” features Naomi Watts as the British princess,

Other films screening also have star potential for the fest. David Gordon Green’s Texas-set redemption story “Joe” stars Nicolas Cage, while J.C. Chandor’s “All Is Lost” stars Robert Redford as a sailor in distress.

Jonathan Teplitzky’s “The Railway Man” also stars Firth alongside Nicole Kidman in a tale about a man trying to come to terms with war-time traumas.

Roger Michell’s “Le Weekend,” which looks at a couple attempting to rekindle their love life, features Jim Broadbent, Lindsay Duncan and Jeff Goldblum.
