Yellow Bird and Chernin Ent. Team On ‘The Swede’

"The Swede" will be turned into a one-hour drama

Yellow Bird Ent., the shingle behind “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” trilogy, is joining forces with Chernin Ent. to adapt Robert Karjel’s “The Swede” (“De Redan Doda”) into a one-hour drama.

An intricate political thriller, the novel turns on a Swedish secret service agent who is summoned to a remote US military base to interrogate a prisoner thought to be a fellow Swede; and ultimately gets drawn into the complex investigation led by a female CIA agent. The evidence takes them from the 2004 Thailand Tsunami to a terrorist attack in Topeka Kansas.

Karjel, who penned the book, is a helicopter pilot and lieutenant colonel in the Swedish Air Force.

“The Swede” was picked up HarperCollins for publication in the U.S. in a deal brokered by Jonas Axelsson of Partners in Stories.

Chernin’s Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope will exec produce the drama skein alongside Berna Levin and Marianne Gray of Yellow Bird, a company owned by Zodiak Media.

Deal was brokered by UTA which represents Yellow Bird Ent. and Chernin Ent..
