Venice Film Festival: FilmBuff to Press ‘Double Play’ Digitally

Doc about Linklater, Benning world preems Thursday

New York based-digital distributor FilmBuff will digitally release docu “Double Play: James Benning and Richard Linklater,” which world preems Thursday in Venice Classics, and also handle worldwide sales.
Directed by Gabe Klinger, the film follows the American filmmakers, both rooted in experimental and indie cinema but with widely differing career paths, as they talk about sports, art and friendship over the course of a leisurely weekend in Austin, Texas. Their chats are interspersed with extensive archival material.
FilmBuff brought Linklater’s 1991 “Slacker” to digital audiences in 2007.
“Double Play” is a Gladys Glover and Bando a Parte production in association with Cine+ and the Bear Media.
