Sony uses cutting-edge 4K cameras for concert footage

Sony and Real World have teamed up to produce a 4K feature film version of singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel’s recent London concerts, which form part of his “Back to Front: So Live” tour.

The partners filmed two gigs at the O2 arena on Oct. 21 and Oct. 22, using 10 Sony F55 cameras to capture the action. The pic is co-produced by Done & Dusted Prods. and ERP Prods., with CTV Outside Broadcasts supplying technical support.

Real World is teaming with Eagle Rock Entertainment to distribute the film next year.

Gabriel is celebrating the 25th anniversary of his multi-platinum album “So.”

“With live events becoming as much about the overall spectacle as the music itself, production teams and artists are continually striving to push new audio and visual boundaries in creative performance,” said David Bush, marketing director, Sony Europe. “Shooting his latest concert in 4K and utilizing the most innovative technologies, Peter Gabriel is once more raising the bar for what is possible.”
