Pathe Closes Further Sales for Cannes Slate

'Philomena,' 'Zulu,' 'Superchondriac,' 'Bellezza' find buyers

Pathe Intl. has revealed a raft of sales on its Cannes slate, including Jerome Salle’s thriller “Zulu,” which closes the fest.

Zulu” was picked up by Japan (Klockworx), Brazil (Europa), Scandinavia (Scanbox), Latin America (Telexcine), India (Pictureworks), Ex-Yugoslavia (MCF) and Iceland (Myndform). The pic, which stars Forest Whitaker and Orlando Bloom, previously sold to The Weinstein Company in the U.S.

Stephen Frears’ “Philomena,” another Weinstein Company pickup in the U.S., as well as in Canada and Spain, has been sold to Latin America (IDC), Japan (Phantom Films), Portugal (Lusomundo), Greece (Feel Good), Middle East (Shooting Star), Hong Kong (Golden Harvest), Taiwan (Atom) and Iceland (Myndform). Pic stars Judi Dench and Steve Coogan.

Paolo Sorrentino’s Cannes competition entry “The Great Beauty” went to Germany (DCM), the U.K. (Artificial Eye), Australia (Palace), Japan (Respect), Benelux (Cinemien), Portugal (Lusomundo), Greece (Feel good movies), the Czech Republic and Slovakia (Film Europe), Brazil (Mares Filmes), Canada (Mongrel) and Israel (United Kings).

Dany Boon’s comedy “Superchondriac,” which reunites him with “Welcome to the Sticks” co-star Kad Merad, closed sales to Germany (Prokino), CIS (Volga), the Middle East (Gulf Films), the Netherlands (Paradiso), Portugal (Vandetta) and Turkey (Chantier).

Comedy “La Cage Doree” (The Gilded Cage) went to Germany (Prokino), Italy (Made In Italy), Australia (Palace), Brazil (Mares films), Canada (AZ) and Hungary (Vertigo).

Alejandro Jodorowsky’s “La Danza de la realidad,” which screened in Directors’ Fortnight, was sold to Japan (Uplink).
