K5 Intl. Drives ‘Superfast!’ Sales at Cannes

Territories sold include Russia, Germany, Italy

Sales company K5 Intl. has closed several territory deals on spoof movie “Superfast!,” which is produced by the team that delivered “Date Movie,” “Meet the Spartans” and “Vampires Suck.”

K5 Intl. has closed Russia (Volga), Germany (Wild Bunch), Italy (Lucky Red), Middle East (Falcon) and Latin America (Sun), with other deals being finalized.

“Superfast!,” which riffs off the “Fast & Furious” franchise, is written and directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, and is produced by Peter Safran of The Safran Company (“Scary Movie,” “Meet the Spartans”).

Frieberg and Seltzer’s credits include “Date Movie,” “Epic Movie,” “Meet the Spartans” and “Vampires Suck,” which have accumulated a worldwide box office of more than $350 million. Adding their work as writers on “Scary Movie” and “Spy Hard” raises the total to more than a billion dollars.

K5 Intl. co-founders Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur said: “Jason and Aaron will drive audiences crazy with this latest parody. It’s a franchise that’s crying out for some high-octane comedy collisions and these are the guys to get a speeding ticket doing it.”

K5 Intl. is also selling Paul Walker-starrer “Vehicle 19,” which is also produced by Safran.
