TWC Closes Deal for ‘Grace of Monaco,’ Sets Dec. 27 Release

Nicole Kidman, Tim Roth Star As Monaco's Royal Couple

The Weinstein Co. has closed a deal for U.S. distribution rights to Olivier Dahan’s Grace Kelly biopic “Grace of Monaco” and set a Dec. 27 opening in limited release.

Nicole Kidman stars as Kelly and Tim Roth as her husband, Prince Rainier III.  Milo Ventimiglia, Frank Langella, Parker Posey, Paz Vega, and Derek Jacobi co-star.

Dahan, helmer of “La Vie en Rose,” directed from a screenplay by Arash Amel. Pierre-Ange Le Pogam of Stone Angels produced with YRF Entertainment’s Amel and Uday Chopra.

Story centers on Kelly being called upon to save Monaco from a crisis over its standing as a tax haven after it was given six months to reform the nation’s tax laws by French leader Charles de Gaulle.

“More than 30 years after her death, Grace Kelly’s story continues to be one of insurmountable allure and we are so happy Olivier Dahan has brought it new life,” said TWC Co-Chairman Harvey Weinstein. “As always, Nicole Kidman’s commanding performance is the perfect portrait of a woman who was not only royalty, but who also remains a legend of the silver screen and fashion icon.”

The deal was negotiated by David Glasser and Michal Steinberg for TWC, with CAA and Le Pogam on behalf of the filmmakers.
