Fox Delays Bollywood Film Due to Surgery on Star Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan's brain surgery holds up 'Bang Bang' production

Fox Star Studios will delay completion of “Bang Bang,” its proposed Hindi-language reworking of the Tom Cruise film “Knight and Day,” due to emergency brain surgery on its leading man, Hrithik Roshan.

Roshan, 39, is one of India’s top stars. He was operated on over the weekend in a Mumbai hospital to remove a blood clot from his brain. Fox Star, the studio joint venture between New Corp units Star TV and Twentieth Century Fox, gave no indication of when “Bang Bang” production would resume.

Roshan, Bollywood star of “Krrish,” “Jodhaa Akbar” and “Agneepath,” was notably absent from the IIFA awards pageant in Macau, but was cheerfully tweeting from the hospital shortly before the procedure. On Facebook, he posted a photo of a thumb’s up and said while he was still horizontal, was “controlling my environment,” which got more than 25,000 “likes.”

His father, Rakesh, later told media that the intervention had been successful and that his son would likely be discharged within 48 hours.

Local media in India were quick to suggest that the clot had possibly been caused by a heavy stunt schedule for the recently lensed “Krrish 3” and the first elements of “Bang Bang,” which shot in Thailand and Greece.

Roshan had recently been vacationing in the U.S. and had returned to India to launch the social media campaign for “Krrish 3” on July 4. He had complained of back and knee pains.
