Robert Kessel Joins Participant Media

Veteran exec takes senior VP title

Veteran executive Robert Kessel has joined Participant Media as senior VP of production.

He will report to Jonathan King, Participant’s exec VP of production, and manage the development, production and acquisition of narrative film.

Kessel was most recently senior VP of production at Sony-based Matt Tolmach Prods., where he worked with Tolmach to oversee the development and production of the company’s slate including the upcoming “Kitchen Sink.”

Kessel also served as an exec VP for Overture Films and supervised “Last Chance Harvey” and “Let Me In” and the acquisitions of Participant’s “The Visitor,” “Sunshine Cleaning,” “Law Abiding Citizen” and “The Men Who Stare at Goats.”

Prior to joining Overture, Kessel was a partner and production head for seven years at Hart Sharp Entertainment. He also was VP of acquisitions at Miramax Films.
