After “Titanic 3D” made a huge splash in China, Universal bowed its “Jurassic Park” multidimensional re-release on the mainland, where it grossed an impressive $6.3 million on opening day.

The 3D release scored the fourth-highest opening day for a U.S. release this year in China, beating “Man of Steel,” which earned $6.2 million locally, and “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” with $5.6 million.

Still, “Jurassic Park” 3D earned less than “Titanic” in 3D, which grossed $11.2 million opening day in 2012. That pic set an astronomically high bar on the mainland, however. “Titanic 3D” wound up becoming the top-grossing film in China that year.

With its Chinese results, “Jurassic Park 3D” has cumed $20.7 million internationally. Re-release bowed Stateside on April 15, with north of $45 million.
