BAFTA Honors Sacha Baron Cohen at 2013 Britannia Awards

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles will present Sacha Baron Cohen with the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy at the 2013 BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards Nov. 9, recognizing his contribution to comedic film.

Actor/writer/producer Cohen has won two BAFTA awards in the past, both of them in 2000 for “Da Ali G Show,” which he starred in and co-wrote.

Cohen won a comedy actor Golden Globe and received an adapted screenplay Oscar nom for “Borat,” which he followed with “Bruno” and “The Dictator,” which he also co-wrote and starred in.

Other honorees at this year’s awards include Benedict Cumberbatch with the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year, George Clooney with the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film, Kathryn Bigelow with the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing and Ben Kingsley with the Albert R. Broccoli Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Entertainment.

The show will air on BBC America for the second year in a row Nov. 10.
