Watch Netflix’s ‘Orange Is the New Black’ Trailer (VIDEO)

Streamer to bow prison drama from ‘Weeds’ creator Jenji Kohan on July 11

Netflix is whetting the appetite for bingers of its next original series this summer — distaff prison drama “Orange Is the New Black,” from “Weeds” creator Jenji Kohan.

Internet streamer, which posted trailer for the gritty skein Thursday, will drop all 13 episodes on July 11 as has been its practice with previous originals including “House of Cards” and the return of “Arrested Development.” Netflix doesn’t disclose viewing numbers, but the company is apparently happy to challenge conventional wisdom in releasing full series in one fell swoop instead of spacing them out on a weekly basis.

Orange Is the New Black” stars Taylor Schilling as a Gothamite who spends a year in federal prison after her relationship with a drug-runner (Laura Prepon) catches up with her. Jason Biggs costars as her fiance.

Series was exec produced by Kohan, who also wrote the first and final episodes of the season. “Orange Is the New Black” was produced by Lionsgate Television for Netflix.
