MovieTickets.com Adds Carmike Cinemas

Deal marks the ticket provider's largest U.S. acquisition since 2000

Continuing to jockey for top placement in the online ticketing space, MovieTickets.com has added Carmike Cinemas to its network of theaters, marking the ticket provider’s largest domestic acquisition in more than a decade, totaling north of 2,200 screens Stateside.

Carmike, the nation’s fourth-largest theater chain, recently acquired 16 multiplexes from Rave Reviews Cinemas, totaling 251 screens, which already are serviced by MovieTickets.com. The remaining Carmike locations currently are being incorporated by the ticketing site.

“Carmike is highly influential in our industry, we are pleased they chose to join our program and collectively work with us to improve the movie going experience,” said MovieTickets.com CEO Joel Cohen.

David Passman, Carmike’s prexy and CEO, added: “Carmike patrons appreciate flexibility in their advance ticket purchasing and we are pleased to be adding MovieTickets.com.”

Currently, MovieTickets.com partners with more than 260 theater chains in 22 countries located throughout North and South America and Europe. Carmike also remains a partner with online ticketing rival company, Fandango.
