Fandango is getting into the box office tracking action with a new movie buzz meter that collects and analyzes the ticketing site’s online and mobile traffic.

Announced Friday at the South by Southwest Film Fest, Fandango is calling the weekly online feature “Fanticipation.” The public-faced tracking tool ranks user participation for upcoming and current films, as well as accounts for social media engagement and advanced ticket sales.

“‘Fanticipation’ captures Fandango’s unique ability to tap into moviegoer buzz and will be a great feature for both the industry and consumers,” said Fandango prexy Paul Yanover.

Fandango plans to feature the tool during the site’s original digital video series, “Weekend Ticket,” which premieres March 14.
