This is literally not good news for the town of Pawnee, Indiana.

Sources have confirmed that Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones, who play on-again/off-again love interest (and potential parents) Chris Traeger and Ann Perkins are departing the fan-favorite NBC comedy “Parks and Recreation.”

Buzzfeed.com was the first to break the story.  Co-creator Greg Daniels declined to comment. Co-creator Michael Schur was not available for comment.

Lowe received critical raves for his depiction of a youth-obsessed plastic surgeon in the HBO miniseries “Behind the Candelabra.” He also received an Emmy nomination in 2001 for “The West Wing.” Jones and writing partner Will McCormack received an Independent Spirit Award nomination this year for their screenplay, “Celeste & Jesse Forever.”
