In this all-female, invitation-only event, executives from the entertainment, corporate, government and faith communities will collaborate to build homes alongside low-income families as a part of the Power Women, Power Tools event.
More than 200 volunteers will be participating, with Sony Pictures Entertainment, Lowe’s and Union Bank as sponsors. The women will be framing walls to be used for future construction of homes in the local community.
Wearing one of the pink hardhats this year will be “House of Lies” executive producer Jessika Borsiczky who is a member of the host committee.
“To have HFH organize this event, which gets awareness out at the same time as starting the homebuilding process for a family — it’s a no-brainer to get involved,” Borsiczky says. “By hosting, I can help get the word out and use whatever voice I have to raise money and cheer on the cause. Obviously, the event is the focus, but donations are a great outcome too.”
With the recent destruction of houses in Oklahoma, Borsiczky realizes how easy it is to lose a home and how important it is for women to unite their power.
“I am really looking forward to celebrating women in the business doing something so constructive right in our own backyard,” Borsiczky says. “Powerful women showing what strength they have together is a profound thing to experience.”
Ronnee Sass, VP of publicity and promotion at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, attended last year’s event and loved it. “As we know, ‘there’s no place like home.’ What an honor to help provide this gift to a family,” Sass says. “And to work side by side great people with terrific energy and purpose was a total joy. Not to mention the pink hardhat and fanny pack!”
