VIDEO: Rupert Murdoch on Getting ‘Caught With Dirty Hands’

Britain’s Channel 4 has posted clips from their alleged audio recording of News Corp. chief Rupert Murdoch admitting knowledge of bribery amongst some of his tabloid journalists.

“(We) got caught with dirty hands, I guess, with the ‘News of the World,’ and everybody piled in,” Murdoch can be heard saying on tape.

In the video, which aired Wednesday in the U.K., Murdoch appears to express sympathy for staffers at “The Sun” who were arrested and jailed in conjunction with the phone hacking scandal which erupted in 2011.

“”The idea that the cops then started coming after you, kick you out of bed, and your families, at six in the morning, is unbelievable,” he says.

British investigative news site ExaroNews first posted a transcript of the recording, which they say took place during a meeting between Murdoch and top executives at tabloid “The Sun.”

Murdoch can be heard fielding questions from employees about bribery amongst his tabloid journalists and succession plans for the leadership at News Corp.

“It will either be with my son, Lachlan, or with [News Corp. Chief Executive] Robert Thomson,” he said.

Murdoch also addressed concerns that “Sun” employees were being used as scapegoats in the ongoing investigation and urged employees to trust him.

“I will promise you continued health support,” Murdoch says. “But your jobs, I’ve got to be careful what comes out. But frankly, I won’t say, but just trust me.”
