Elzer spent nearly 12 years at the studio and his departure comes after Sony tapped crisis PR veteran Charles Sipkins as head of communications. “I will remain onboard to assist (marketing prexy) Marc Weinstock and Charlie Sipkins with the transition, wrap up existing business, and start to plan for the future.”
Sipkins declined to comment.
Elzer earned friendship and respect from many Hollywood journalists for his collaborative attitude on even the toughest assignments. The former New Line Cinema PR chief joined Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group as a senior veepee of media relations in 2002.
