Thor Is Headed to Disneyland

The Marvel character will be featured in the theme park as part of a promotion for 'Thor: The Dark World'

Disney plans to promote the release of Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” with a yet-to-be-disclosed attraction at Disneyland.

The Disney Parks Blog gave few details on what will appear at the theme park in Anaheim, Calif., other than to say that guests “will be able to visit Asgard this fall and come face-to-face with the Mighty Avenger, Thor.”

The “Thor” sequel bows Nov. 8.

Disney also showed off Iron Man’s various suits at Disneyland this summer, erecting Tony Stark’s Hall of Armor inside Tomorrowland’s Carousel of Progress as part of a promotion of “Iron Man 3.”

The displays have given Disney a way to promote Marvel’s characters inside its theme parks outside of a traditional theme park attraction. Think more photo op, because of a previous deal with Universal Studios’ parks, including its Islands of Adventure in Orlando, that prevents Disney from building rides featuring a majority of Marvel’s top superheroes, like Spider-Man, Iron Man, the X-Men and the Incredible Hulk.
