Steven Spielberg to Produce ‘Halo’ Series for Xbox

Microsoft will adapt its blockbuster “Halo” videogame franchise as a premium live action series exclusively for Xbox Live. Steven Spielberg will produce the series with gamemaker 343 Studios.

Series, and Spielberg’s involvement, was announced during the launch of the Xbox One videogame console on Tuesday from the Xbox campus, in Redmond, Wash. The Xbox One out this fall, replaces the Xbox 360.

New series comes from Nancy Tellem, who heads up Xbox Entertainment Studios.

Halo” already has been adapted into a live action series before; “Halo Forward Unto Dawn” bowed as a web series on that began on Machinima, timed with the launch of last year’s “Halo 4.” 343 Studios also was behind that project, given that the publisher has taken over development of the “Halo” franchise for Microsoft from Bungie.
