Obama has spent the past week weighing options for U.S. intervention in Syria, where fighting between rebel groups and the government of Bashar al-Assad have killed thousands of civilians. The president arrived in Russia on Thursday to meet with other leaders of the Group of 20 nations as he prepares for a possible military attack without much international support.
Obama has found strong support in Hollywood and has made numerous trips to Los Angeles throughout his two terms in office. George Clooney held a blockbuster fundraiser at his home in the area last year, when roughly 125 people paid about $40,000 per person to attend.
