Jenelle Riley Joins Variety as Associate Editor, Features

Experienced scribe spent 11 years as film and TV editor of Backstage

Variety is strengthening the ranks of its editorial team with the hiring of Jenelle Riley as associate editor, features.

For the past 11 years as film and television editor at Backstage, the oldest and leading publication covering the acting profession,  Riley wrote, assigned and edited profiles, articles and feature sections blanketing all aspects of the performing arts.

In addition, Riley created Backstage’s screening and Q&A series, moderated panels and led the charge in partnering with the SAG Foundation to stream events online. She also wrote a blog for film awards coverage, provided written and video coverage of awards trends, and oversaw several special editions of Backstage. Riley will report to deputy features editor Peter Caranicas at Variety, where she will concentrate primarily on Variety’s more than 300 feature sections, show dailies, standalone editions and nearly 50 industry events created and supervised annually by the features team.
