Global sports powerhouse IMG Worldwide has acquired U.S.-based Catalyst Public Relations.

Communications firm, which specializes in “consumer-facing integrated marketing programs” according to a release issued Monday announcing the deal, will operate as Catalyst and merge into IMG’s consulting business headed by David Abrutyn.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Catalyst’s current management team – Bret Werner, Bill Holtz and Ted Fragulis – and full-time employees will join IMG.

IMG is currently prepping to go up for sale next year, as Variety first reported in December. Company, purchased by private equity firm Forstmann Little in 2004, is seen as a marquee asset, with a broad range of businesses including sports marketing, event management, licensing, fashion, representation and production operations. It handles retailing and licensing for the All England Lawn Tennis Club, which organizes the Wimbledon tennis tournaments, and produces high-end golf, soccer, rugby and cricket events around the world, among its other sports activities.

IMG’s talent representation business is thought to make up a small sliver of the company’s overall revenues
