WE TV renews ‘Mary Mary’

Unscripted series on singing pair set to come back in 2013

WE TV has ordered a second season of original series “Mary Mary.”

Ten episodes of the skein, featuring the personal and professional lives of gospel musician sister duo Erica Campbell and Tina Campbell, will go into production this month with an early 2013 premiere targeted.

“Mary Mary” premiered March 29 and has tripled WE TV’s average primetime female viewership. The season-one finale is May 31.

“The success of ‘Mary Mary’ is both a testament to the engaging personalities of Erica and Tina and to WE tv’s programming strategy of catering to an underserved audience of African American women,” said WE TV senior original production and development veep Lauren Gellert. “Coupled with ‘Braxton Family Values’ and the upcoming series ‘L.A. Hair’ and ‘Tamar & Vince,’ ‘Mary Mary’ is yet another opportunity for WE TV to serve this valuable audience and provide opportunities to our advertising and distribution partners to engage with them as well.”

Tara Long, Eric Hoberman and John Morayniss exec produce “Mary” for eOne TV, with the Campbells and Mitchell Solarek.
