USA’s ‘Political Animals’ to launch July 15

'Heroes' vet Pasdar added to cast as president

USA Network has set July 15 as the debut for its six-episode miniseries “Political Animals.”

From Greg Berlanti and Warner Horizon, project about a former first lady (Sigourney Weaver) who becomes secretary of state while dealing with personal and professional issues, will run on consecutive Sundays and conclude Aug. 19. Production has recently begun in Philadelphia.

Latest to be added to the cast is “Heroes” vet Adrian Pasdar. He will play the president who ultimately defeats Weaver in a presidential race and then appoints her to his cabinet.

Others thesps already on the call sheet include Ellen Burstyn, Carla Gugino, James Wolk and Ciaran Hinds.

Berlanti wrote and directed the first episode and exec produces with Laurence Mark and Sarah Caplan.
