Upcoming ‘Copper’ books actors

Weston-Jones, Potente, Griffith join BBC America series

Several thesps with crime-show pedigrees have been added to BBC America’s upcoming police drama “Copper”: “MI-5” actor Tom Weston-Jones and “Damages” vet Anastasia Griffith will star alongside Kyle Schmid (Lifetime’s “Blood Ties”) and “Bourne” franchise performer Franka Potente in the Cineflix Studios/Shaw Media co-production, set to debut on BBC America this summer.

The brainchild of “Oz” creator Tom Fontana, “Copper” follows an Irish-American cop in 1860s New York City as he solves crimes with the assistance of friends from his time as a soldier in the Civil War.

On the production side, Steve Cosens will join the series as d.p., while John Blackie (who’s having a busy year with “Hell on Wheels”) serves as production designer and Delphine White designs costumes.

Co-exec producers on the series include Fontana, Barry Levinson and Cineflix Studios topper Christina Wayne.
