Cartoon Network designers have received two juried Creative Arts Emmy awards for individual achievement in animation.

Background designer Chris Tsirgiotis and character designer Robert Ryan Cory of Cartoon Network’s “Secret Mountain Fort Awesome” were honored as part of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ juried kudos in animation achievement and in costumes for a variety program or special.

These categories are handled without a nominations process, with professionals from the respective peer groups selecting zero, one or multiple award recipients via open deliberation.

Background painter Jill Daniels of Disney Channel’s “Phineas and Ferb” and character designer Bill Schwab of ABC’s “Disney Prep and Landing” were also honored in the individual animation achievement category.

In costumes, supervising costume designer Maria Rosario Mendoza (ESPN’s “Opening Ceremony of the XVI Pan American Games Guadalajara 2011”) was tapped for an Emmy, as were costume designer Marina Toybina and costume supervisor Grainne O’Sullivan of Fox’s “The X Factor.”

The honors will be presented at the Sept. 15 Creative Arts Emmys ceremony at the Nokia Theater.
