TBS has ordered 35 new episodes of “Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse.”
The ensemble comedy stars Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Crystle Stewart, Kent Faulcon, Kiki Haynes and Jason Olive. Premiering in November with a 10-episode freshman season, “For Better or Worse” averaged 2.9 million viewers to lead all basic cable sitcoms.
“Tyler Perry’s shows have proven to be a popular draw for TBS on Friday nights,” said Michael Wright, exec veep and head of programming for TBS, TNT and TCM.
“For Better or Worse” will return for its new season in the summer, joining recently greenlit “Sullivan and Son,” “Men at Work” and “The Wedding Band.”
TBS’ other Perry show, “House of Payne,” is nearing the end of its seventh season, while “Meet the Browns” had its series finale in November, the week before “For Better or Worse” premiered.
The latest news comes with Perry’s latest movie, “Good Deeds,” set to hit theaters Feb. 24.
