Strode lights Nick at Nite pilot

Actress cast in lead role on 'Wendell & Vinnie'

Haley Strode has been cast as a lead in Nick at Nite pilot “Wendell & Vinnie.”

Marjorie Cohn, topper of original programming and development at Nickelodeon, dubs the project a “balance of comedy and heart.” Strode will play the role of Taryn, neighbor to man-child Vinnie and his precocious 12-year-old nephew, Wendell. Newly divorced and relocated, Taryn develops a bond with the uncle-nephew duo.

Jerry Trainor of “iCarly” is on board to play Vinnie, and moppet Buddy Handleson will play Wendell.

“Wendell & Vinnie,” created by Emmy-winning scribe Jay Kogen and exec produced by Aaron Kaplan, follows Nick at Nite’s order of original sitcom pilot “Daddy’s Home.”

Strode has landed guest spots on numerous broadcast net shows including “CSI: NY,” “Castle” and “Whitney.” She recently wrapped the indie pic “Watercolor Postcards” and filmed the pilot for TNT’s “LA Noir.” Thesp will also appear on the bigscreen this year as Marcia Keeler in “Gangster Squad.” She is managed by David Rhee at Arc.
