Shapiro promoted at USA Network

Exec will now handle creative oversight in marketing

USA Network is giving longtime exec Alexandra Shapiro a promotion and additional marketing duties.

As exec VP of marketing and digital, Shapiro will now have creative oversight of the marketing division, a job that previously fell under co-president Chris McCumber’s purview. A year ago, however, McCumber ascended to co-prexy — a title he shares with Jeff Wachtel — and he needed to take some responsibilities off his plate.

Other activities under Shapiro include consumer and strategic marketing, brand initiatives, promotions and business development.

“Alexandra is a true marketing innovator who brings a wealth of creativity and savvy to the role,” McCumber said.

Recent shows that have launched under Shapiro’s marketing watch include “White Collar,” “Royal Pains” and “Necessary Roughness.” She also played a role in the cabler’s “Characters Welcome” branding venture.

One of the net’s big upcoming priorities is “Political Animals,” the politically charged six-episode miniseries from Greg Berlanti. Project is set to launch in July.
