Director Robert Zemeckis and producing partner Jack Rapke have signed an overall deal with Fox Television Studios to develop projects for cable networks.
Pact is the first of many that Fox TV Studios aims to make in a bid to bring high-level filmmakers to the studio.
“Bob and Jack are a rare breed, as gifted and accomplished creatively as they are in production,” said Fox TV Studios president David Madden.
Zemeckis has spent most of his career in film, although he and Rapke are exec producers on Showtime’s Jeremy Irons drama “The Borgias” and Zemeckis was an exec producer on HBO’s long-running “Tales From the Crypt” anthology series.
Zemeckis’ latest feature through ImageWorks is the Denzel Washington film “Flight,” set to bow in November through Paramount. He’s known for his cutting-edge use of technologies, having made the performance capture pics “The Polar Express” and “A Christmas Carol.”
Fox TV Studios’ active series roster includes USA Network’s “Burn Notice” and “White Collar” and A&E’s “The Glades.”
