National Geographic Channels has hired former MTV exec Jennifer DeGuzman as communications veep, while promoting two others in the department.

Dara Klatt has risen to senior corporate communications director, while Erin Griffin is now associate director of communications and talent relations. DeGuzman and Klatt report to senior veep of communications and talent relations Chris Albert.

DeGuzman comes most recently from AOL, where as senior director she managed consumer publicity and developed strategy in several areas, including AOL Huffington Post Media Group’s lifestyle verticals, the AOL home page and AOL’s branded entertainment sites.

Previously, she was communications veep at Bravo, and before that spent 13 years with MTV, becoming senior director in 2005.

Klatt and Griffin each joined NatGeo that same year. Klatt oversees trade and consumer press relationships and spearheads publicity outreach and media campaigns for top-priority series and tentpole specials, while Griffin’s duties include supervising talent relations for high-profile series “Wicked Tuna” and “Rocket City Rednecks.”
