Music bizzers might have been chilly on June 12 at the City of Hope’s outdoor Spirit of Life Award Gala. But drinks on the table, scarves on the chairs and hot artists on stage warmed things up considerably.

The fundraising event took place outside the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in downtown L.A., as locals stood in stairwells and peeked out windows to check out the festivities.

“It looks like three neighbors here at the apartments nearby are going to get a free show,” said guest Ryan Seacrest.

Quincy Jones and other past honorees were on hand to present the night’s award to Clear Channel’s Bob Pittman, while fellow exec John Sykes served as dinner chair.

“Being a dinner chair is kind of like jury duty,” Sykes joked. “When you get the call, you got to do it. It’s your civic duty. But when it’s over, you don’t have to do it again for six more years.”

Program ended with sets from Alicia Keys, the Zac Brown Band and Katy Perry, who quipped of an intro detailing her success, “Well, that was a bunch of bullshit.”
